Personal History:
The 1911 has only one man with the surname "Simpson" and initial "B." living in the immediate vicinity. This was Benjamin Bradbury, son of John (Postman) and Fanny Simpson of 35 Hollins Street, Buxton. (1901 Census RG 13/3269) who was born in the June quarter 1892. If so he had two older sisters, Sarah E. and Mary Elizabeth and an older brother, John H. (1891 Census RG 12/2779) His father, John, died in the June quarter 1896. In 1911 (Census RG 14/21241) the family were still living at 35 Hollins Street, Buxton.

In the June quarter 1913 Benjamin married Violet E. Staines. Their first child, Eva, was born a year later. (No record can be found of any other children.)

Military History:
Apart from the one shown above, there are no obvious records on the CWGC Database or on SDGW database. Nor does "B. Simpson" appear on any other Buxton Memorial to indicate where in the town he might have lived.

Footnote:
· Strangely, there is also a "Private R. Simpson" on the Buxton Memorial for which no trace can be found.
